In Their Words
What they have said, on the record
“We need law enforcement to talk to the counties, to talk to locals, to talk to state and to talk to Federals, … We need everybody cooperating on the same page.”
“Would I go after everybody that's here that have work permits and have been here for decades? Probably not, … I'd probably go for the people in the gangs and the criminals. I would start there.”
“If they're not here legally, they've broken the law, unfortunately. And they have a job to do,”
“I'm running for congress to create jobs, to help create better jobs for Mainers, and to lower taxes while operating an efficient government,”
“We need to convince the left to be reasonable and to help Maine people,”
“I have a suggestion, and I’m going to talk to the president about it when I get down there. There is a way to solve this, and gas prices is a big issue.”
Show all 14 statementsShow fewer
“Do I want tariffs? I want them to go away as quick as possible … But in order to have balance, both nations have to be able to trade fairly.”
“As far as the war in Iran, that regime has got to go, but I don’t think that ceasefires every 60 days is the answer”
“If you could limit your questions to the 2nd Amendment and guns, we’re going to have a lot of press conferences, and all kinds of questions are going to come up, and I’m more than happy to answer them, but not today”
“I will never take money from people who want to ban guns. I am 100% behind the Second Amendment. It promotes freedom, and I’m all in”
“If you get up, you work hard, you earn your way,”
“So when I hear a liberal talk about having hardships, I don’t want to hear their lectures, and I sure as hell don’t want their handouts, … I lived there.”
“Maine doesn’t need a smooth-talking politician in the 2nd District, … It needs a fighter.”
“I’m not running for Congress because I need a job, … I’m running for Congress because Maine needs jobs.”
Interviews and Published Statements
Paul LePage for Congress · WVOM interview, May 20 2026
Radio interview · WVOM (Maine's Morning News with Ric Tyler) Excerpts from GOTV Intel's transcription: [03:45] “Well, I I will tell you, uh the State Auditor should be auditing the Department of Health and Human Services and many of the programs, Section 129, particularly the the group homes, autism. Uh, I'm telling you, there is a lot of money that's disappearing. And the other thing that we ought to be doing here because I I I really believe that despite the governor, uh legalizing um Chinese grow houses, uh, I think there's a lot of human trafficking, uh there's a lot of cartel work being done in Maine, and we could clean it up a lot easier. I personally, I think that those homes should be confiscated to eminent domain, cleaned up and put on the market for affordable housing.” [07:46] “Go to DHHS and clean house. That is the biggest single place that you can make a a big impact and the reason they expanded it. I I if you recall, when I left the governorship, I said, if they expand Medicaid they're going to hurt rural hospitals, they're going to be back in the position of not being able to pay the hospitals. And I I've been right there, right straight on. Uh the other thing is you need to shake up. I I would also in the next administration, I would take a look at our Constitution and ask for an amendment to the constitution and uh go to the lieutenant governor situation and I would have the lieutenant governor run the Secretary of State.” [08:40] “That is correct. You would go do what I would say is the governor and lieutenant governor would be a team and they'd go out and run as a team and I'd also urge the Attorney General to be elected either statewide or appointed by the governor and uh sent to the House and the Senate for uh for approval. Approval.”
