Radio interview · WBUR Here & Now Excerpts from GOTV Intel's transcription: [00:27] “Well, the first time I showed up was um, was on a Saturday morning and that that, um, we did they told us they weren't running the facility anymore, and later on that day, they they actually said that it was because there was a thousand protesters outside. Well, I can, um, there wasn't a thousand protesters. There was some reporters, some staff, and a bunch of attorneys. That was it.” [02:29] “We included this in our appropriations language that basically says that any money that cannot be used to prevent a member of Congress from conducting oversight over these facilities. So, any facility that has, um, they're holding migrants or detaining migrants for any reason, we can go into.” [05:11] “So, we we have a constitutional, um, right to oversee the, the, the conditions of these facilities and how people are being treated.” [06:25] “I think it's complete nonsense. One, oversight is of the executive is part of the responsibility of Congress, especially when it comes to a president that is upholding, operating outside the bounds of the law. We believe that we should have a a orderly immigration system that we want to make sure that people are, um, who are come to this country are vetted, but we also want to make sure that people's rights in this country are also not violated and that they're treated humanely.”
