In Their Words
What they have said, on the record
“I distinctly remember the bicentennial of our Constitution being celebrated here in Philadelphia in 1987. It was a massive event, and I look forward to ensuring that 2037 will be at least as significant as 2026 and 1987. This is a great bipartisan effort. I think it is badly needed in our times that we keep this not as a Democratic thing or a Republican thing, but as an American thing. It is also an opportunity over these next few years to tell the story of our nation's Constitution and why it matters today. These anniversaries are not just about honoring the dead, they're about educating the living.”
“For voters in Philadelphia, getting this wrong could mean losing their right to vote. More than 200,000 Philadelphians voted by mail or absentee ballot in the 2024 general election. Under Pennsylvania law, ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark is not enough. A bad barcode, data mismatch, or delay involving a batch of ballots could prevent an eligible Philadelphian from having their vote counted. That is completely unacceptable.”
“I am deeply concerned by reports that the U.S. Postal Service is rushing to build a new system that could interfere with the delivery of mail-in ballots just weeks before the November election. Let me be clear: the Postal Service's job is to deliver ballots, not decide who gets one.”
“Make no mistake. The Iranian regime is evil and it poses a threat. But spending billions of dollars on another war is not the best way to neutralize this threat. The American people don't want billions of dollars spent on an unnecessary war. They want lower costs and affordable health care. I continue to pray for the safety of our brave troops serving in the region.”
