In Their Words
What they have said, on the record
“"Communities should know how much water the company is going to use, where it's coming from and what they're going to do with it when they're done with it," Beck said. "The tax breaks that were originally approved these companies may have made sense 15 or 20 years ago; doesn't seem to make sense now."”
“"My goal is to deny Trump a seat in Congress," Beck said during an interview. "I think the people deserve better representation than they're getting, and I have long ties to the landscape of Eastern Oregon and rural towns. I have the background that qualifies me to do this, and so I'm doing something. I needed to do something."”
“"The Democrats should be leading the charge on balancing the budget and reducing the debt," he said, arguing it can't be done on spending cuts alone and would require rolling back the Bush- and Trump-era tax cuts.”
“"Just putting our heads in the sand and saying 'no, ever' - that's not the right approach."”
“"The more I'm learning about how dependent rural hospitals are on Medicaid patients - and that affects all of us," Beck said. "If the hospital is thinking, 'We're already barely surviving, and now we might lose 20% of our clients,' that might be the end. That hurts everybody."”
“"Dispositionally, I think the solutions have to come through a more collaborative approach that results in compromise. That's just the way I'm wired," he said. "A lot of my Democrat friends would disagree with that. You've got to be hard left, just yell and scream. I'm just not wired that way."”

“"There's a path. It's narrow," Beck said in an interview at The Times-Journal building in Condon. "But I think I'm a pretty reasonable guy."”
“"I don't see compromise as a dirty word," Beck said. "The middle ground can be found to move something forward, and we aren't doing enough of that."”
“I'm running to defeat Cliff Bentz because his votes in Congress, as well as his support for everything the current administration is doing, are hurting rural Oregonians. It breaks my heart.”
