In Their Words
What they have said, on the record
“I am proud to have the support of the people who day in and day out risk their lives to protect others. I look forward to working closely with Local 628 and UFOA to secure additional State Aid for Yonkers and bring about much needed change to tier 6.”
“I want to thank Assemblymember Sayegh for his years of public service and for being such strong example of dedicated, effective leadership. With so many people losing their faith in our democracy, it is up to us to restore that faith by delivering top-notch constituent services, fighting for common-sense values in Albany, and demanding real accountability at every level of government. I've worked in government at the state and municipal level, I'm ready to hit the ground running on day one and deliver the representation our community deserves.”
“With so much instability, divisiveness, and uncertainty coming out of Washington, Yonkers needs an Assemblymember who will tackle our affordability crisis; stand up to Trump and all forms of extremism; secure funds for schools, child care and senior services; and fix Tier 6 so our teachers, firefighters, police officers, and public works employees can earn the dignified retirements they deserve.”

Heading to Albany: A new champion for Yonkers
Podcast · Capitol Pressroom (podcast) Excerpts from GOTV Intel's transcription: [00:01:12] “And then you know, on the other side of things, a big thing that I also plan on doing is bringing the district office more into the community. The 90th assembly district is a very diverse community and there are communities that simply can't get to the district office to receive state resources. So I look forward to hopefully having a mobile office and putting the district office into the communities that I hope to represent in January.” [00:02:53] “Well, obviously I'll be only one of 150, but I look forward to sharing the plight of my city with the speaker, with my fellow colleagues. Yonkers contributes more to its public schools than Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse do combined.” [00:05:06] “I just think instead of wrangling over dollars every year, it would be fruitful just to have a system where Yonkers can get the money that it deserves from the beginning, not where you know, we need to fight to get the $12 million back and bullet aid when it's not in the governor's proposed budget. It's been in the past budget for so many years, yet it seems like every year the state delegation needs to fight to make sure it's included in the adopted budget.” [00:09:13] “Absolutely. I wouldn't want to tie anybody's hands and force anybody to be released from prison, but I do believe they should have the opportunity at least to be heard to be released from prison and for their application to be considered for parole.” [00:09:58] “Well, and there's a lot of policies that the Democratic Socialists of America have that I share too, especially when it comes to healthcare, especially when it comes to getting money out of politics. But I am an establishment Democrat and in a sense where I believe in the party organization. I've been a district leader since I could vote. I volunteer for Democrats up and down the ballot and I don't think the way the Democratic Party should move forward is fighting ourselves within.” [00:11:28] “Oh, absolutely. Well, my first, my only real concern is going to be the people of Yonkers. So when anytime there's a bill either in committee or on the assembly floor, if it's not going to be beneficial or help the people of my district, then I simply just won't vote for it, regardless of what the party establishment or the party bosses might say.” [00:12:01] “Well, I think for starters, we have a public service commission now that's simply not doing the will of the people of New York State. They're not doing anybody a service and I'm of the thought that while a lot of great changes were made to put more oversight on the public service commission and how they approve rate hikes, particularly what cost the utility companies pass on to the consumers, us meaning, I don't think that the public service commission should be deciding on rate hikes and I would support a move to have the state legislator approve rate hikes that any utility company requests in New York State.” [00:12:54] “Well, I could just tell you something, I was while I was door knocking, there was a resident of my assembly district, or my future assembly district who showed me her Con Ed bill and she owed Con Ed $70,000. This was a senior. This was a person who lives on a fixed income. Her Con Ed bill is more than her property taxes in Yonkers and for anybody to think that's fair or feasible is just not the case. There's nothing pushing people out of our communities like Con Edison and their rate hikes. So I almost would like to put the feet to the fire of the state legislator and I look forward to be one of them that makes the tough decisions to say no to rate hikes.”

LWV Rivertowns (YouTube) · 2026-06-08 · 1:30 Transcript of the highlight: [00:00] Frank Jereis: Just to reiterate my point before, $40 million that was secured by state by the state delegation for Yonkers Public Schools went directly into the classroom to save the jobs of teachers and CSCA members. [00:12] Frank Jereis: They were going to be laid off before state government came up with the aid necessary, and now they're keeping their job. There couldn't be more transparent than that. [00:20] Frank Jereis: And just, the biggest thing is to to tell a story, I believe. As a member of the assembly, I look forward to communicating with the speaker and sharing the plight of our city. [00:30] Frank Jereis: Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, three other big cities in New York, in upstate New York, that are similar in size to Yonkers somewhat, contribute. Yonkers contributes more to their to our public schools than those three cities do combined. [00:44] Frank Jereis: We have a problem with our funding formula. I would, I'm playing on fighting night and day to making sure that a funding formula represents the unique situation that Yonkers is in. [00:53] Frank Jereis: We're on the border of the Bronx. We have higher costs. Yonkers' median income for a family of four are some of the lowest in the county, although Westchester is a very wealthy county, Yonkers is not. [01:04] Frank Jereis: And I look forward to trying to bring those changes. But even if those changes don't seem in reach, I look forward to fighting night and day for every single dollar to get as much state aid into our district. [01:15] Frank Jereis: And hopefully every year we can continue to deliver more aid so we can make sure that our students are getting the best education possible, whether it's extracurriculars, whether it's after school, whether it's having great school lunches. And I look forward to every year.

LWV Rivertowns (YouTube) · 2026-06-08 · 1:21 Transcript of the highlight: [00:00] Kathy Meeney (moderator): Okay, thank you. Frank? [00:03] Frank Jereis: Uh, so, one of the biggest things in my campaign is Con Edison. The state regulates our utility companies. Con Edison has a monopoly over our utilities, and frankly, families can't afford it anymore. Whether you're a family, whether you're a small business owner, whether you're any type of property owner, Con Edison rate hikes simply aren't working for the people of the 90th district or anybody that uses Con Edison in New York State. So, one of the first things that I look forward to doing is introducing legislation where the Public Service Commission sort of takes some of their roles and gives it to the state legislator. The Public Service Commission right now is approving the rate hikes that uh, Con Edison requests. I believe it should be the state legislator, the State Assembly, and State Senate that should decide whether utility rate hikes go in effect. Another big issue is healthcare. I believe healthcare is a universal right. Many people nowadays can't afford the cost of prescriptions, the cost of copayments. I was proud to be endorsed by 1199, one of the largest uh, healthcare unions in New York State, and I look forward to working with them and my colleagues in the state legislator, hopefully, in the future to deliver uh, truly affordable healthcare to all of Yonkers. And another thing that I also just want to expand on is uh, the STAR program. The STAR program is in place in New York State, it's a great program. However, with inflation and rising costs, with a lot of it being associated with

[00:03] Frank Jereis: Let me start off by thanking the League of Women Voters for putting together this forum today. [00:07] Frank Jereis: I'm a lifelong Democrat, lifelong Yonkers resident. [00:11] Frank Jereis: As many of you know, State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh decided to not seek this state, to not seek reelection. [00:17] Frank Jereis: Having been his Chief of Staff for more than the past two years, in a natural progression of continuing public service, I decided to run for this State Assembly seat. [00:25] Frank Jereis: I'm a graduate of Hunter College, graduate of New York Law School. Uh, prior to working for the assemblyman, I worked for Yonkers' Commission on Human Rights. [00:33] Frank Jereis: I'm running for the State Assembly seat, District 90, the only state legislative district wholly contained in Yonkers, to be a voice for the future of Yonkers. [00:41] Frank Jereis: I've called Yonkers home my whole life. I know its neighborhoods, I know its communities, I know its struggles, and on day one, I'm ready to hit the ground running and deliver real results for the people of Yonkers. [00:51] Frank Jereis: Some big things in my campaign include addressing the rising cost of living, starting with Con Edison, [00:57] Frank Jereis: securing more state aid for our public schools, because I believe every student deserves a top-notch education. [01:04] Frank Jereis: And lastly, it's delivering and bringing state resources into the district to keep Yonkers safe and to keep Yonkers healthy. [01:12] Frank Jereis: Uh, I'm proud to have been endorsed by the current Assemblyman Sayegh, County Executive Ken Jenkins, Mayor Mike Spano, the Yonkers Democratic Party. [01:20] Frank Jereis: Uh, in addition, I'm proud to have the support of so many labor unions that represent the working families in Yonkers and understand the struggles of the working families.
