In Their Words

What they have said, on the record

“It is tough, and the thing that I know about farmers is, while they do know and feel these tariffs, are a very real hit, they also know that for decades they have been exploited by other countries that have been selling their goods on the cheap to us. President Trump is the first president, in a very long time, who came in and said, this isn't right. He's leveling the playing field.... and I will be a help in trying to level that playing field, and in the short, that may cause some discomfort, but I really believe this tariff policy is working, and we will see this level out for farmers in the future.”

“Funding is always an issue; getting people who are talented in their respective medical fields to live and work in those communities is also a challenge. I would love to see us, number one, root out the corruption and the fraud and the theft that we're seeing, seeing in programs like Medicare and Medicaid. We're seeing billions of dollars in theft that needs to be rooted out, and it needs to be punished. Number two, I'd love to see a system that encourages talent to leave the suburbs and cities and move for a time to rural communities and serve those communities and those smaller hospitals.”

“Well, President Trump's vision for the future is not the easiest path, but it's the right one and the necessary one. Talking about borders, sealed law enforcement, engaged and well-funded support, these things weren't happening quite frankly. He's a different kind of guy, he sees things in pretty commonsense ways, apolitical ways, and I've supported his agenda for the last three elections, and I'm eager to be a source for him in the House.”

“The 6th District is a huge, huge district with 33 counties. Our biggest task as we close out this race heading into November is to get to as many of those counties as often as possible. We need to meet folks where they are and hear the various concerns that they have. It's a lot of rural counties that all have very unique needs. Many are similar, but with a lot of land to cover, with a lot of people to represent.”

“And so it just seemed like the appropriate time in this 250th year of the country, where average folks founded the country, they came out of their private-sector lives and stepped up for a time – that's the way I feel about it.”
