In Their Words
What they have said, on the record
“We can't afford basic things. It's groceries. It's gas. It's going to the doctor's offices. I mean, I hear about seniors who are having trouble deciding which pills are going to be able to afford in a month, or a daughter or son struggling to navigate their parent's medical care and their Medicare and their Social Security and it's the same story across Arkansas”
“A lot of people are just playing it in the background, and they're hearing my name over and over and over again”
“Medicaid and SNAP are now economic infrastructure, so you cannot just gut the programs and expect the problem to go away. It doesn't”
“Nothing I will ever do in my entire life until I lose one of my parents was as hard as closing the farm”
“I find it really frustrating that Tom Cotton has suddenly decided to take an interest in this when he should have been focusing on the problem years ago.”
“But we don't have a national policy that helps farmers diversify in any meaningful way. That's what I want to do. I want to get to D.C. and write new farm and food policy so that we can grow new things to feed back into a domestic market, including the largest restaurant in the United States, which is public school cafeterias.”

“I would say that Tom Cotton may be the most economically incompetent senator we've ever had because he talks about national security, but he doesn't talk about the fact that we do not actually produce the food that we eat. Here in America, most of it is imported, and we don't treat our farmers as the necessary national security resource that they are.”
